Today, if you want to appear relevant and valuable, you need to increase the length of your articles. I’m not asking you to pad or copy and paste just to meet up with the ideal words count. Google estimates that around 56% of mobile searches have local intent, and 50% of consumers who conduct local search on their phone visit a store on the same day. With local SEO you can showcase your business information directly to consumers who are actively looking for businesses like yours, and achieve an incredible reach throughout your local area. Google is far more capable of deciphering user intent and generating results that meet a user’s needs, rather than relying on one-to-one keyword matching. The entire mentality of a search engine is to provide the best possible result to the searcher that satisfies their original search query. They do this by evaluating a site’s content in reference to the search and the quality of the site and its content.

You have a huge opportunity to optimize your URLs on every post you publish

Among many factors that a search engine considers to rank the website, a backlink is one of the most important factors considered by the popular search engines to rank the website. Google has always encouraged webmasters to make their primary focus one of providing a good user experience. As the algorithm gets “smarter”, websites that do so are positioned to benefit the most. Apart from knowing which search terms people use, you need to know whether or not your idea for your post or page fits the desires and expectations of the people who use the search terms. The best way to find out whether or not your content fits these desires is to Google your proposed (sets of) keywords yourself. Internal linking is one of the few methods we can use to tell Google (and visitors) that a particular page of content is important. So how should you go about linking internally to other pages of your website?2

Search engine optimization is about getting visitors to your website, not getting rankings

In the past, some people tried to make their pages extra-relevant by using the keywords for which they want to get high rankings over and over again in their internal links. The idea was that a web page must be very relevant to a keyword if many other pages of the website link to that page with that keyword. To prevent users from linking to one version of a URL and others linking to a different version (this could split the reputation of that content between the URLs), focus on using and referring to one URL in the structure and internal linking of your pages. If you do find that people are accessing the same content through multiple URLs, setting up a 301 redirect from non-preferred URLs to the dominant URL is a good solution for this. Keyword usage on a page is much more complicated these days. SEO professionals used to go as far as calculating the number of times a keyword appeared on a page to try to be in some kind of ideal percentage. That’s simply not applicable anymore and search engines are much smarter at deciphering what a page is about beyond seeing the same keyword used a bunch of times. Segment your content - If you catch yourself writing a few monster paragraphs, cut them up into smaller, bite-sized pieces. Make sure you use headers, lists, and bullets when ever possible. Don't forget to add appropriate spacing. This strategy directly correlates with increased readability, and thus, linkability.

Make basic duplicate listing detection

Often, the best SEO strategy is to focus on long tail terms—search terms that are highly specific, relevant, and with strong buying intent. If you are focused on a local market, it is also important to get connected with local businesses and organizations. If you sign up to become a member for a site, you'll get a link in your profile. Well, not every site. Some sites will allow quality links in your profile, while others won't. Some are in the middle, such as Twitter, which gives nofollow links (links that don't pass link juice). According to Gaz Hall, a UK SEO Consultant : "Focus your time and energy on big-picture items that influence your SEO. These begin with the all-important user experience, great quality content, and relevancy to your website. Of course, the mechanisms that tell search engines about your site are crucial; quality subject matter comes from the depth of your content, your social media signals, your backlink profile, technical issues with your site and your internal linking to other relevant pages."

Faked and manipulated website content can harm a website’s SEO

Since search engines focus more on the initial words of the titles, make sure you add your keywords at the start of your title tag – this will help you rank better. Don't deceive your users or present different content to search engines than you display to users, a practice commonly referred to as cloaking. When SEO isn’t done right it can be the cause of wasted time, money and a lot of frustration for many businesses. They might be ranking well for some keywords, but those keywords aren’t actually bringing in qualified traffic, leads or buyers. Make sure your visitors know where to find what they need, and of course, make it simple for them to get back where they started.
