Many marketers will have seen a technical SEO checklist in their time. Any time a site migration is approaching or a technical audit is scheduled, a checklist tends to appear. When consumers search vocally, their queries are hugely different from how they write them out. The most noticeable aspect of this is that voice search produces many long-tail keyword queries. NAP stands for Name, Address and Phone Number. NAP is critical for businesses wanting to rank highly in local search results. Google cross-references your contact information across your own website, and local online directories in order to validate your company. Inconsistent information can be the reason your SEO is failing. Let’s face it, a website that can’t get its contact details right is more than likely not worth a visit. Hence, Google ranks these websites lower. You have to get your digital footprint right before you do anything else. Instead of Internet-based churn and burn we’ll be focusing on building equity in the Internet. So if you see some highly-paid SEO consultant telling you to use software and spun content to generate links, or when you see some blackhatter beating the system, just know that it’s not worth it. We’re going to build authority and get traffic fast, but we’re going to do it in a way that doesn’t disappear or cripple your site in the future.
Ensure that Googlebot and other web crawlers can index your pages correctly
A great way to incorporate all those valuable local keywords into your website is to create valuable content. Fresh, unique content has great SEO benefits, but it will also help to establish you as a reputable, reliable and knowledgeable business. Plus, you can use it for link-building efforts and share it on social media to widen your reach there, too. Only link to pages
on other websites that you think your visitors would find helpful, valuable and/or interesting. Most people simply ignore this part as not important – please don’t do the same. Remember the following two sayings: “Show me your friends and I’ll tell you who you are” and “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” Check the readability score of your content with the Flesch reading ease test, and aim to get above 60% It doesn’t take hundreds to see the needle move, especially with Google’s ever-improving ability to detect low quality and manipulative links.
Just because you have similar keyword rankings does not always mean you are direct competitors
Your website should be thematically oriented to specific
keywords for optimal rankings. The website should fulfill the
needs of your users. At the same time, it is also important for
your web content to load quickly in order to guarantee user
satisfaction. Google’s emphasis on links
is the most significant area of overlap between its organic and local ranking algorithms. Who wants to get a 404 page after clicking on a link? Broken links make for bad usability. Not only that, search engines consider a large number of broken links as a signal of an old, neglected site and this can impact your SEO ranking. A lot of people and businesses will pour money into a professional website only to find out that visitors won’t magically begin appearing on their site.
Refocus your marketing message on problems, not solutions
Never start writing an article without performing a keyword research. The best tool to use is the free Google Keyword Tool. If you maintain a blog, of course you want the traffic to your blog to grow. But what if it doesn’t? What if the traffic to your blog is (slightly) decreasing? What do you do? There are thousands of millions of pages on the web, all ready to present the information on a variety of interesting and amusing topics. The Search Engines are the messengers of the same information at your disposal whenever you need them. According to Gaz Hall, a UK SEO Consultant
: "Basically a search engine searches the web using automated programs called web crawlers. The crawlers follow links from page to page, they then send a copy of each page back to the search engine, which then builds an index of the words on each page."
Try to use the keyphrase once or twice per paragraph
Today, smartphone usage is so huge that more searches are done on smartphones than on computers. Making sure your website is mobile friendly is massively important. Permalinks are the permanent
URLs for your web pages, posts, categories and tag archives. It is the web address used to link to your individual blog post and web page. By default, permalinks look something like this: https://yoursite.com/p?=17 This structure makes it difficult for search engine crawlers to read and index your web pages and posts. That means you will need to make it more accessible for both search engines and we visitors. I highly recommend starting off with building out resources their target audience would care about, want to share on social media, and want to link to. Google offers another tool called Google Website Optimizer
that allows you to run experiments to find what on-page changes will
produce the best conversion rates with visitors.
